Jacob Fossum, Fine Artist and Simon's Rock Visiting Professor in the Arts, is having his first solo painting exhibition at the school's Hillman-Jackson Gallery since joining the faculty in 2011. The exhibit runs daily from Tuesday, October 21, through Friday, November 21, and there is a Gallery Talk and Artist's Reception -- open to the public -- on Saturday, November 1, at 5:00 PM. We recently sat down with the artist to talk about his work, his teaching and his experience at Simon's Rock.

Lysley Tenorio

The 2014 Book One Lecture at Simon's Rock featured Lysley Tenorio, the Filipino-American short story writer of 'Monstress: Stories'. An event designed for the public and the college community, the event was held August 18th at the McConnell Theater in the campus' 50,000-square-foot Daniel Arts Center.

Berkshire Festival of Women Writers

In my classes this spring at Bard College at Simon’s Rock, I have been exploring the fruitful overlap between the humanities and environmental studies.

Specifically, in a class entitled “Women Write the World,” we are reading a series of literary approaches to environmental activism on a wide range of issues, from deforestation and climate change to biodiversity loss and the dangers of agricultural mono-cropping.
